About
It all began when I was in class 3. Computer subject was introduced in our syllabus and our teacher took us to a new classroom. I had no idea what was happening.
I happened to sit at the back and couldn’t see clearly what the teacher was doing. What I could gather was she was sitting in front of a small TV doing something. Back then monitors used to be like big boxes and to me it appeared as a small TV.
But, that TV wasn’t showing any TV shows, and we students at the back got involved in random talks. But, I was still curious as to what we were doing here in this new classroom.
Next week, our teacher took us to the same classroom and this time I made sure to sit in front.
And when I saw everything clearly, I was blown away. I saw that it wasn’t a normal TV. It was a TV that my teacher was controlling. It had a white arrow that somehow moved just the way my teacher’s hand moved.
While I was trying to match the hand movement with the arrow on the screen, my teacher opened something and started typing (while speaking it out for us). And I could see whatever she was speaking, was getting displayed on the TV. I couldn’t believe it. For me it was a TV that could write without paper!
And then, my teacher opened another thing and started to draw rectangles and ovals and fill them with colours. This was it for me. I couldn’t believe that this TV could also draw.
It just sparked with me. More than all these uses, I wanted to know who built all of this and how. I was more interested in learning how to build all of that than in using the TV itself.
In that whole year, I got to know that the -
1. TV is called a monitor,
2. white arrow is called a mouse pointer (controlled by a mouse),
3. typing is done with a keyboard on software like MS Word,
4. drawing is done on a software like MS Paint.
5. and all other stuff about computer basics.
I knew this was what I wanted to continue doing - computers.
I didn’t have a computer at home back then. So, sometimes a year I would go with my father to his office (on Saturdays when work was less) with my computer book. I used to sit down and follow the book instructions - Open Start menu → Click on All Programs → Click on MS Word…
That’s how I learnt MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Then after completing each chapter, I would play online games for fun (while still being amazed at how computer is able to do so many things)
3 years went by and finally I got my first computer in class 6.
I started diving deep into the field of software. Exploring all kinds of software and finding their best usage. I learnt a lot from articles on various websites and started wondering how are these companies able to put out such useful writing on the Internet.
That’s when I started exploring about websites and blogs. I went all in and started a blog of my own to share a few computer tricks I had learnt about.
I didn’t expect anyone to read them but the blog got 100 views within a month. I was super excited and was checking the dashboard every hour. I wanted to continue this and make my blog better.
I didn’t want to just stick to custom design templates. Plus, as I had learned from SEO articles, I wanted to optimise for speed and a strong technical foundation. So after reading tons of articles and trying several things, I learnt that it’s hard to get all of that without custom code. It was a tradeoff of no-code vs code.
So I started to learn coding with JAVA but found it to be complex at that time.
So, I decided to give this thing a pause for some time.
Finally, in my 2nd year of college, I decided it was time to get back to custom coding websites.
I learnt how to build production level websites with a professional frontend and a scalable backend. But making a website is one thing and making a website that helps a business grow is another thing.
I thought through all these years, that maybe somebody might have developed a better system to build and manage a website so that the focus could be more on the business side than getting busy in solving technicalities. But to the best of my knowledge, I couldn’t find one.
So, I decided that I would build such a system myself.
I spent 5 years learning everything about websites - UI / UX, servers, algorithms, scalable systems, design strategies, SEO requirements…
There were times when nothing made sense. There were times when I thought I wouldn’t ever be able to do it. There were times I wanted to quit. Times of self-doubt, panic, and uncertainty. But my end goal kept me going.
And finally today I know how to build a website that helps grow a brand without stress.
I built this website with my blueprint, and I document all my learnings here so that you can learn all the essentials to build your brand without being stressed.
All these years of studying computers and still, I am amazed how a non-living thing is able to do such stuff. It’s able to build a website, process it and display it to so many people across the globe!
